Breaking News: Carolina head coach fired

Peter Laviolette, the winningest American-born coach in the NHL has been relieved of his duties. Story at TSN

With Laviolette's firing, the Southeast Division doesn't have a coach with more than one season's experience as head coach with their current team.

Tampa Bay: Fired Melrose, replaced with assistant Rick Tocchet.
Florida: Demoted Jacques Martin to GM, replaced with Peter DeBoer.
Atlanta: John Anderson named head coach after Don Waddell (Atlanta GM) served as interim head coach.
Washington: Fired Glen Hanlon last season, replaced with Boudreau.

And you wonder how the Capitals can be abysmal at times and still keep a three-point lead in the Southeast Division.

The Capitals meet the Carolina Hurricanes this Sunday at Carolina.
