Pre-Cap: Capitals vs. Panthers

Before I begin, a huge thank you to my girlfriend, who has allowed me to divide time tonight between her and the Capitals. I'm a big Mike Green fan, my dad and brother are bigger Greenie fans, and her father is the biggest Green fan, so getting to see the historic moment during a Valentine's Day celebration was pretty cool.

Some thoughts on the Caps and Tampa...

  • Congrats to Mike Green on his record. Dare I say it? NORRIS! NORRIS! NORRIS!
  • Michal Neuvirth had a great game. Too bad he couldn't get the shutout, but he certainly made an impression.
  • Speaking of rookie goalies, it's nice to have a predicament where you have two up-and- comers in Simeon Varlamov and Neuvirth.
  • The F-line (Flash, Fehr, Fedorov) continues to work hard and get results.
  • Tampa Bay could be a great team in a few years. Neuvirth's win didn't come against a "bad" team, but rather a good one in a state of utter choas. (See Ownership blunders)
  • The Capitals dominated the Bolts throughout the game. Let's hope they can keep this momentum as they now face a tough string of opponents in Florida, Montreal and Colorado.
Washington Capitals (35-16-5, first in EC, last game 5-1 against Tampa Bay)
vs.
Florida Panthers (28-19-8, seventh in EC, last game 2-1 win over N.Y. Rangers)

Moving on up!
Mike Green is now tied for ninth with Robert Picard for the Capitals all-time goal-scoring leaders for defensemen.

David Booth goes to Coldstone...
Remember that terrible "Panthers go to Panera" video I posted back in December? Well, here's the sequel.

LET'S GO CAPS!
